It's just About Getting Better . . .
Don't want your money. Don't want your soul.

Why should I believe what you write? What are your qualifications?

Some of what I write stems from my educational background: a masters degree in psychology and a doctorate in counseling. But, most of My Reclaimed Life is a memoir. I was an active alcoholic, heavy smoker, overweight, out-of-shape miserable mess. I'm a whole lot better now. I write about how that happened. For years and years I thought life without alcohol, cigarettes, and comfort food was impossible. I discovered it's not only possible, it can be glorious. Along the way, I learned some things that work for me. If they don't work for you, try something else. I just want to share my experience because life now is so much better. I hope this website is an inspiration for folks to gain the willingness to do what it takes to find a new life. You can find out more about my story here.

Do you take stanis or any other medication?

I take no medications for cholesterol. Dr. Johnson suggested statins early on , but all medications have side effects and I want to avoid taking them as often as I can. I've maintained my cholesterol, triglyceride, and glucose numbers through diet and exercise.

I have an inherited electrical problem with my heart called long q-t syndrome (LQTS.) To protect myself from sudden death from that condition, I take a small dose of a beta blocker daily (12.5 mg of Atenolol.) My blood pressure and resting heart rate remain the same with or without the medication.

My alcoholism, nicotine addiction, and fat resulted in my having coronary artery disease. A cardiac cath revealed a 50% blockage in the LAD (aka Widowmaker.) Because of that, I take 81 mg of aspirin a day
